# 2025 - Keezer 3.0 - Part 1 #keezer [[Home Brewing#Projects|Projects]] [[2025 - Keezer 3.0 - Part 2]] - The build. --- ## Background Unfortunately, the original [[Journal#2025-06-11|keezer died]]. I'd kegged some beer and lowered the keezer temperature to aid carbonation, 3 hours later the compressor was still running but the temperature hadn't dropped. The front panel of the freezer cabinet was getting hotter, it was time to switch it off. The freezer, a Frigidaire FC100, was at least 20 years old being a swap we made downsizing our old freezer. When I originally converted the freezer to the keezer, I wondered if it was really worthwhile converting an old unit - lesson learnt[^1]. ## The hunt for a replacement freezer Looked at ready-built keezers but they’re expensive, besides I'd already invested in all the hardware. Found a suitable, slightly larger, replacement online. Tried to shop local, without much success: our 'one horse' left town a while back. ## Work begins Order placed and awaiting delivery (hopefully tomorrow). The old freezer is being taken away when the new one arrives, it needs decommissioning as a keezer. ![[Attachments/Projects/Keezer 3/Keezer-1.jpg]] ![[Attachments/Projects/Keezer 3/Keezer-2.jpg]] Main gas feed disconnected. ![[Attachments/Projects/Keezer 3/Keezer-3.jpg]] Collar removed and hinges undone. ![[Attachments/Projects/Keezer 3/Keezer-4.jpg]] Lid reattached. The collar will have to be rebuilt with the new freezer being slightly larger. [[2025 - Keezer 3.0 - Part 2]] - the build. [^1]: I’m English.
